Camelon and District Pipe Band is an RSPBA affiliated band competing in Grade 3B. We are a registered charity, training anyone from the age of 10 upwards who wants to learn piping or drumming. The band currently meets on Monday nights in Tamfourhill, and Thursday nights in Bainsford.

History

Camelon and District Pipe Band was formed in 1913. We wear the MacKenzie tartan which was the regimental tartan of the 7th Battalion of Royal Scots. The band adopted the tartan after several members volunteered to replace pipers and drummers from the Battalion who were amongst the 182 people killed in the Quintinshill Rail disaster in 1915.

Competition

Following a successful season in 2019, the band was promoted from Grade 4B to Grade 4A. Since then we have won several prizes at competitions, and were recently promoted again to Grade 3B.

Tuition

We offer individual beginner lessons on Monday nights, taught by Tam Anderson. Our learners are given as many opportunities as possible to gain experience with the band at events and competitions.
